There’s nothing that can be said about Elden Ring that hasn’t been said thousands of times since its release. It’s a mastery in game making and a testament to creator Hidetaka Miyazaki’s vision. Elden Ring was both unexpectedly transformative for the soulslike formula, while also being the obvious next step. Despite some progression pitfalls due to the open world design (an issue mitigated by the studio’s previous entries being linear), Elden Ring delivers excellently in all other areas. It’s an RPG that changed the genre, and I believe single handedly matured the “casual single-player” audience sector of gaming.
2 likesDespite a rocky launch, CDPR’s most recent offering has become a quintessential RPG, a blend of vast world building accompanied by deep gameplay systems, strong writing, and a memorable identity across both visuals and story beats. Cyberpunk 2077 is by and large a seminal achievement that will stand the test of time, a true masterpiece that ties together CDPR’s history within the genre and pushes it forward.
