Draft, pending legal review. OuttaSeven is in testing and this page may change.

OuttaSeven only accepts reviews from people whose game history shows they played. To do that we read some of your PlayStation and Steam data. This page explains what we keep, who can see it, and how to remove it.

Who we are

OuttaSeven is run by an individual based in the United Kingdom, as a personal project. For UK data protection law we are the "controller" of your personal data. You can reach us at support@outtaseven.com, and we will give you our full legal name on request.

What we collect

  • Your account. Your email address and a password (we never see your password, only a scrambled version held by our login provider). If you sign in with Google, Google shares your basic profile with us (your email address, name and profile picture). We use your email address to run your account. We do not use Google data for anything else, we do not sell it, and we only share it with the providers listed below. Your chosen username.
  • Your linked game accounts. Your PlayStation account ID and PSN name, and your Steam ID and Steam name. To link PlayStation you put a short code in your PSN About Me. To link Steam you sign in on Steam's own site, so we never see your Steam password.
  • Your play data. From the accounts you link we read the games you own or have played, hours played, trophies or achievements earned and their totals, how complete each game is, when you first and last played, and a flag if a trophy list looks unusual. We read this from Sony and Steam only for accounts you link, when you link, when you open a review form or collection, and once a day if you have been active in the last 14 days. For Steam we can only read your games if your Steam game details are public.
  • What you do on the site. Your reviews (score, text, spoiler marker, platform), a snapshot of the evidence that you played when you wrote each review (hours and trophies or achievements at that moment), likes and dislikes you give, reviews you report, people you block or follow, your Top 5 games and your profile privacy choice.
  • Safety records. Reports, reviews an admin removed, any suspension or ban with the private reason, and, for a banned person, the IDs of their linked PlayStation and Steam accounts.
  • Technical data. A login cookie so you stay signed in, and the usual server records (such as IP address and browser type) kept by our hosting provider for security and fixing faults.

We do not collect your payment details (we take no payments), your precise location, or your PlayStation or Steam passwords.

Why we use it

  • To run the service you asked for (our contract with you): keeping your account, checking you played a game before you can review it, showing your reviews, scores and profile, and refreshing your play data.
  • For our legitimate interests in keeping reviews honest and the site safe: spotting faked or unusual trophy lists, handling reports, suspending or banning people who break the rules, stopping banned people from signing up again, and fixing faults. You can object to this (see your rights below).
  • To follow the law where we are required to.

We do not use your data for advertising or sell it. If that ever changes, we will update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

What other people can see

Always public: your username, and your reviews, including the play snapshot shown with each review (for example hours played). Reviews stay visible on game pages whatever your profile setting is.

You choose what your profile page shows, in Account, then Profile settings:

  • Public: your levels and stats, your Top 5, and your most recently played games.
  • Limited (the default): your levels and stats and your Top 5, but not your recently played games.
  • Private: only your username and reviews. Your follower and following numbers and lists are also hidden.

Your collection (the full list of your games) is only ever visible to you. Anyone can follow you, and unless your profile is private, people can see who follows you and who you follow. Private people can still be found by username. The overall score for a game combines many reviews and does not show who gave which score beyond the reviews themselves.

Who we share data with

We use these services to run OuttaSeven. They handle data on our behalf and only for that purpose:

  • Supabase, for our database and login (hosted in London).
  • Vercel, which hosts the website.
  • Railway, which runs our background worker that reads your play data.
  • Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.

We also ask Sony (PlayStation Network) and Valve (Steam) for the play data of accounts you link, and IGDB (run by Twitch) for game information such as covers and release dates. For IGDB we send game names, not personal data. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on the safeguards the law allows, such as the UK's approved contract terms. We may also share data where the law requires it or to protect people's safety. We do not sell personal data.

Combined, anonymous statistics

In future we may use combined statistics, for example how many people have played a game and how they rate it, to understand games and share insight. These would not identify you, and we would not sell or share your individual play data or reviews as part of them. We will update this page before doing anything of the kind.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account (Account, then Delete account), we delete your profile, linked accounts, play data, reviews and their snapshots, votes, follows and Top 5, and recalculate the scores of games you reviewed. A few things are different:

  • Reports you made about other people's reviews are kept, with your name removed.
  • If you were banned, we keep the IDs of your linked PlayStation and Steam accounts so they cannot be used to sign up again. They are not linked to your name after deletion.
  • Our hosting provider's backups can hold deleted data for a short time before they are overwritten.
  • Records of completed background requests are cleared after about 30 days.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete your data (you can also do this yourself by deleting your account);
  • limit how we use your data, or object to uses based on our legitimate interests;
  • give you your data in a form you can reuse.

Email support@outtaseven.com and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run analytics. If that changes, we will explain it here and ask first.

Age

OuttaSeven is for people aged 13 or over. If you think a child under 13 has an account, tell us and we will delete it.

Security and changes

We limit who can access data, and the database enforces who can see what, so a mistake in the website cannot expose private data. No online service is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password. If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you on the site. Our terms explain the rules for using OuttaSeven.
